R&D Engineer Perovskite

Evolar AB is searching for a Perovskite R&D Engineer to our team in Uppsala, Sweden. As a R&D Engineer you will have an important role in bringing our perovskite technology into a commercial full-scale product. Since we are young company your role will be broad and your chance and expectation of making a difference is high.

Development engineer focused on production technology


Evolar AB is looking for a Development Engineer to our site in Uppsala. In this role you will be part of our growing Engineering team driving industrialization of perovskite PV products. To produce a PV perovskite product several manufacturing steps take place in dedicated production tools, forming a production line. As a development engineer you will be working with the R&D and pilot line production tools.  

Tasks and responsibilities

 · Service and maintenance of existing equipment ensuring smooth production
 · Standardizing maintenance programs for our equipment  
 · Drive continuous improvements to enhance operations together with the operations team 
·  Responsible for machine upgrades
 · Responsible new equipment installations and start-up of new machines together with the engineering team
 · Implementation of process improvements together with the R&D team  

Qualifications

 · Technical background with minimum 5 years of experience of operations, maintenance, and service of industrial production equipment
 · BSc/MSc in Engineering or other comparable academic education
 · Proven experience of lean production and continuous improvements in an industrial environment 
·  Systematic and structured way of working
 · Ability to communicate and interact with other professionals effectively

R&D Engineer


Evolar AB is looking for an R&D Engineer to our team in Uppsala, Sweden. As an R&D Engineer you will have an important role in bringing our perovskite solar cell technology into a commercial full-scale product. We are looking for a target-oriented person with a strong drive and experience from thin-film development. Since we are a young company, your role will be broad and your chance and expectations of making a difference is high.    

Task and responsibility  

·   Design, evaluate and perform experiments in our small-size as well as full-size prototype lines. 
·   Take an active role in industrializing our thin film processes.
·   Management of R&D projects and work packages, including joint projects with external collaborators. 

Personal qualifications

·    High level of responsibility and engagement with a strong drive to fulfil target
·    Enjoys working in a team in a start-up environment
·    Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills
·    Good understanding of physics and chemistry and thin film deposition processes.
·    Willingness and ability to work hands-on in the lab. 

Experience and qualifications 

·    At least 5 years experience from thin film process development.
·    Experience from solar cell development is advantageous.
·    M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Electronics or similar. 
·    Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably also Swedish.

‘Why I left a great job in pharma to join solar industry start-up Evolar’

Evolar’s Head of Engineering, Björn Ljungqvist, explains what prompted him to leave a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry for the chance to be a part of a solar industry start-up. In an increasingly fast-paced, dynamic job market, Björn Ljungqvist is something of an anomaly. He spent more than 15 years at one company. A company he joined straight after finishing his studies at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. “I really liked it. I had a lot of opportunities and new roles. I wasn’t really looking for anything new,” he recalls. But then a phone call changed everything. On the other end was a former colleague who wondered if Björn would be interested in joining Evolar as the new head of engineering.
